ALDERWOOD (Campground) Additional Info: Alderwood Campground is a dispersed, semi-developed campground located on Haigler Creek in Tonto National Forest, approximately 11 miles north of Young, Arizona. The site features undesignated shaded camping areas suitable for tents and small RVs (up to 16 feet). Amenities include vault toilets only; no drinking water, trash services, or hookups are available. The campground is free and operates seasonally (April–November, with some sources indicating May–October). Haigler Creek is stocked with rainbow trout and offers swimming holes. The area is adjacent to Hellsgate Wilderness and provides access to hiking and horseback riding trails. Elevation is approximately 5,200–5,250 feet. Maximum stay is 14 days. Access requires travel on unpaved forest roads; four-wheel drive is recommended after heavy rain.
