About this site
This equestrian-friendly campground features a spacious group camping area set amongst oaks and jack pines. It is often used by equestrians riding the Shore-to-Shore Trail, a 420-mile trail system open to hiking and horseback riding that stretches east-west from Empire to Oscoda with northern and southern spurs. The rustic campground accommodates tents and trailers, with vault toilets, potable water from a hand-pump well, and a submersible pump requiring a 5000-watt generator. Maximum capacity is 200 individuals (approximately 50 wheeled vehicles). Sites are first-come, first-served with no reservations. Group rates: $6 per person per night with horse or $15 per night for group of 6. Located 9.2 miles southeast of Grayling via M-72 East, I-75 South, and West 4 Mile Road. Open year-round but not plowed in winter. Camping limited to 15-day maximum stay; one unit and six people per site.
